A former Texas Tech football player, Robert Castaneda, was booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center Friday afternoon.  The charge against him was burglary of a residence.

By 3:40 pm, Castaneda posted $5,000 bond according to jail records and was released.

In early May, Texas Tech announced Castaneda, Dakota Allen, and Trace Ellison were removed from the team for failure to uphold student-athlete expectations.

At the time of this report, Allen and Ellison were not listed in jail records.

As for Castaneda, his name was associated with a police report number, which in turn described a burglary some time between December 20 and January 9.

A police report listed two victims, ages 23 and 24, who reside in the 4300 block of 43rd Street.  EverythingLubbock.com chose not to publish their names at this time.

According to the police report, items were taken from a home, including, a Smith & Wesson 5-shot revolver worth $600, an AR-15 rifle worth $2,500, an M1 worth $3,500, a lever-action rifle worth $600, a bolt-action rifle worth $1,350, a 12-gauge shotgun worth $1,800, a classic sporter shotgun worth $3,700, a Brinks gun safe worth, $1,300, a digital camera worth $2,300, and a 40-inch flatscreen TV worth $500.

EverythingLubbock.com learned that Castaneda made arrangements with his defense attorney to turn himself in.
