Lubbock Police were called to a home on the 2000 block of Main Street just after 7 p.m. Monday night. A resident reported someone was attempting to rob him at his residence, then that suspect threatened him with a knife.

Lubbock Police said the resident fired a gun at the suspect. EMS responded to the scene and transported the suspect to UMC for treatment.

Police could not confirm the suspect’s condition nor his identity.

Neighbors in the area  said they were surprised to hear about an incident like this so close by.

“I mean it’s crazy because some dude got shot because he was trying to rob someone, which is that’s just bonkers because usually you just hear about that stuff on the news but it’s happening right here in front of us,” said Warren Shepherd who lives a few houses down from where the incident happened.

Shepherd added that overall, he feels safe in the neighborhood he lives in.

Lubbock Police are still investigating this incident.
