The family of Andre Montgomery spoke to EverythingLubbock.com on Wednesday to let people know of a reward — up to $5,000 — for information related to his murder.

Montgomery, 21, of Lubbock was shot and killed in St. Louis.  On June 10, CrimeStoppers of St. Louis featured Montgomery’s case.

CrimeStoppers said, “On March 14, 2016 Officers responded to 3964 Natural Bridge for a report of a shooting.”

CrimeStoppers also said, “Upon arrival officers discovered the body of Andre Montgomery lying on the dining room floor of the residence suffering from gun shot wounds. Montgomery was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Montgomery’s aunt, Karen Harris, said Montgomery had friends in both Lubbock and in St. Louis.

Harris believed his friends from Lubbock and St. Louis might talk occasionally, and she wanted to make sure the reward information was known in Lubbock.

“We want those friends, if they know anything, to come forward,” Harris said.

Harris said Montgomery’s family believes he was set up.  He had been in St. Louis for a little more than a week to record rap music.

Harris said Montgomery took two phone calls right before he was shot and killed.  She also said a man stole Montgomery’s property as he was dying.

“They posted his picture in St. Louis.  He showed up and gave back clothes,” Harris said.  “But there was more than just clothes.”

Harris said money and other property was still missing.

Harris described Montgomery as a caring, giving person.  Montgomery had appeared in his grandmother’s cable TV show “Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s.”
