A young woman killed in Abilene after she went missing from West Texas in April was found hanging, and police have classified her death as a murder.
Abilene Police Chief Stan Standridge says a medical examiner has determined Jeannie Quinn, 20, was killed by asphyxiation at the intersection of Marigold Street and Arnold Boulevard on April 17.
Police initially considered Quinn’s death ‘suspicious’, and her passing was just days after she was reported missing from her home in Levelland, Texas.
Court documents reveal two individuals, Quinn’s boyfriend and his friend***, could be connected to the crime, though no arrests have been made.
Detectives filed warrants to gain data from both men’s phones in an attempt to place one or both of the individuals at the scene of Quinn’s death.
Chief Standridge confirmed a person of interest has been identified in the murder and said this person is not local to the Abilene area. No additional details were released.
***KTAB and KRBC are choosing to withhold the names of Quinn’s boyfriend and his friend because no criminal charges have been filed. Their identities will be disclosed if the circumstances change.
