On Wednesday, May 4th, The Texas Department Public Safety (DPS) arrested 18 suspects in connection with an 18-month long investigation of an area drug organization.
Throughout the course of the investigation, the DPS Criminal Investigations Division (CID) was assisted by Texas Highway Patrol, DPS Special Response Teams, Lamb County & District Attorney’s Office, Lamb County Sheriff’s Office, and the Littlefield Police Department.
“Methamphetamine use and distribution continues to plague our communities and accounts for a very high percentage of all the crimes committed in our County,” according to Scott A. Say, County & District Attorney for Lamb County and the 154th Judicial District. “The Meth problem is truly overwhelming and most of our small agencies are neither adequately equipped nor sufficiently funded to tackle the problem on their own. That is why, shortly after taking office, I requested assistance from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Criminal Investigation Division to come in and take a serious look at the issue.”
“DPS graciously honored my request and devoted an Agent to our area who worked days, nights and weekends for nearly two years developing these cases. He was assisted by area officers and deputies in gathering information that was key to the investigation.”
On Monday, April 11th, a Lamb County Grand Jury handed down 25 sealed indictments for engaging in organized criminal activity, possession and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
