Ivan Cruz-Martinez, 37, of Houston accepted a plea agreement this week which will put him in federal prison for at least 10 years – perhaps as much as life in prison.
Federal records said investigators in March were aware of a methamphetamine trafficking organization in Lubbock.
In June, federal agents intercepted messages between Cruz-Martinez and Alejandro Garcia-Izazaga. Court records said Garcia-Izazaga made arrangements for Cruz-Martinez to bring methamphetamine from Houston to Lubbock.
A DPS Trooper pulled over Cruz-Martinez for speeding near Hamlin. DPS then found 1,818.3 grams of meth, according to court records.
If a judge approves the plea agreement by Cruz-Martinez then he will be sentenced at a later date.
Also this week, Zacarias Blanco-Olea, 45, accepted a plea deal related to the same drug-trafficking organization.
