A criminal charge was filed against Kevin Ismael Lopez, 24, of Lubbock on Wednesday for sexual exploitation of a child.
On May 5, the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office received a tip about suspected child pornography. In early August, LCSO investigators obtained a search warrant for a home in the 7700 block of Avenue V where Lopez lived.
Lopez agreed to answer questions.
Federal court records said, “Lopez stated that he was viewing images of girls between the ages of 10 and 19, and he was very nonchalant and apathetic about his involvement in this activity.”
“Lopez advised that he was a hebephile, which is a person who has a sexual preference for children between the ages of 11 and 14,” a criminal complaint said.
A smart-phone movie file showed Lopez sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl.
Most of the images that investigators found on Lopez’ Google account depicted naked girls between the ages of 8 and 12, according to the criminal complaint.
In addition to the federal charge, Lopez has been charged at the state level for aggravated sexual assault of a child.
He was arrested on August 4 and has been held in the Lubbock County Detention Center since that time in lieu of a $75,000 bond.
