Brent Michael Silvas, 22, of Littlefield was charged Tuesday with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.  At last check, a judge had not yet set bond for Silvas who was held in the Lamb County Jail.

Littlefield Police said Vernon Williams, 51, was shot in the head Monday night.  He was taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock where he later died.

“Officers received a radio call regarding shots being fired in the 400 block of W. 1st Street,” Littlefield Police said. “Officers arrived on-scene and discovered two gunshot victims.”

The second victim had “a minor gunshot wound to the back of his left leg.”

Three potential suspects were detained but two were let go.  Police asked Texas Rangers to help with the investigation.

Williams father, Robert Clyde Williams said, “It was road rage.”

“They were chasing him, and I don’t know what happened after that,” he said.

Williams’ body was found lying near a blue Honda Civic, police said.

However, police have not confirmed road rage as a motive and have not said what led to the shooting.
