The arrest warrant for Quaylon Jamar Williams, 18, of Lubbock revealed a few new details about the murder of Devin Holland, 18, of Lubbock.  (Devin is sometimes spelled Devon in court records.)

Police were called to the 1900 block of 66th Street Sunday afternoon for the report of a shooting.  Holland was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.

The arrest warrant said police interviewed a witness on Sunday who said Williams and Holland were at Holland’s residence.  The two men were described as cousins.

At one point “Williams pulled out a revolver, but didn’t point it at anyone or threaten anyone with it.”

They were sitting on a couch side-by-side and the witness described frustration on Williams’ face but there was no yelling.

“Williams and … Holland were not arguing, yelling, or talking loudly,” the arrest warrant said.  “Williams was talking to Holland about something that [Williams] lost.”

The lost item was not specifically named in the warrant.  The witness and Williams went into the kitchen.

“Williams got up from the couch and fired the gun in the direction of the kitchen,” the warrant said.  “Williams and … Holland were struggling over control of the gun.”

Holland lost his footing and fell to the floor.  Williams was standing over him and shot him “once or twice” while he was still on the floor.  Police would later reveal that Holland was shot in the neck and chest.

Williams walked away.  Holland also went outside, and the witness left while calling Holland’s brother.  Shortly after that, the witness saw a police officer and told police what he saw.

The warrant indicated at least two other persons were witnesses.
