On Monday, the Lubbock Police Department asked for the public’s help with a hit and run case that resulted in life-threatening injuries.
Police were called to East 3rd Street and Zenith Avenue, around 9:30 p.m., Friday for reports of a man lying beside the roadway.
Police on Monday released images of chrome pieces from a bumper and a statement (see below). Police then issued an updated statement (see further below).

LPD Investigating Hit & Run
(LUBBOCK, TX) – Accident Investigators with the Lubbock Police Department are asking for the public’s help in locating the vehicle involved in Friday night’s hit & run that left one person injured.
Lubbock Police were called to East 3rd Street and Zenith Avenue, around 9:30 p.m., Friday December 15th, for reports of a body lying beside the roadway.
Upon arrival, officers located a male with serious injuries. The victim was transported to UMC by ambulance with life-threatening injuries.
Officers were able to determine the victim was hit by a vehicle.
Accident Investigators believe the suspect vehicle is black in color, with a bug deflector on the hood. Investigators also believe there is damage to the front of the vehicle.
Attached are pictures of chrome pieces believed to be from the suspect vehicle that were recovered from the scene.
The Lubbock Police Department is asking anyone with information about this case to the call Crime Line at 741-1000.
On Monday afternoon, LPD added new information saying, “Investigators are specifically looking for a 2004 to 2007 black Chevrolet Silverado, or Chevrolet Avalanche, with a bug deflector on it, as the suspect vehicle in Friday night’s hit & run.”
“The damage is believed to be focused in the center of the vehicle,” police said.
