Yesterday just before 2p.m., a deceased male was discovered floating in a storm water drainage ditch near the I-27 northbound access road, just north of Pharr RV. This ditch has steep concrete embankments, and the Lubbock Fire and Rescue Dive Team was called to assist in recovering the body for the Medical Examiner’s Office.
Today, the Medical Examiner’s Office positively identified the male as 52-year-old Salvador Castro. The Lubbock Police Department Person Crimes Unit investigators have notified and continue to be in contact with Mr. Castro’s family.
This is an ongoing death investigation, and the circumstances around Mr. Castro’s death are still unclear. We are currently working with the M.E.’s Office and will provide more details as they become available.
