Lather Lewis, 34, of Lubbock was sentenced Thursday morning to 50 years in prison for aggravated assault that resulted in the death of Antonio Gonzales.

In April 2015, Gonzales was found outside of the Hitching Post, 2002 East Broadway.  He later died.

Officials said Lewis punched Gonzales in the face and then continued beating him.  Lewis was accused assaulting another man in the same incident.

The club owner called 9-1-1.

Because of his previous criminal history, Lewis was not facing a maximum of 20 years.  Instead he was looking at possibly life in prison.  He was found guilty by a jury in late April.
