The No. 6 Texas Tech Women’s Tennis team will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Championships at the McLeod Tennis Center for the second straight year.
This is the sixth consecutive season the Lady Raiders earned a berth to the NCAA Championships.
Tech was selected as the No. 6 national seed in the NCAA Lubbock Regional on Tuesday afternoon during the NCAA Selection Show on NCAA.com. The Lady Raiders welcome Southern California, Denver and Quinnipiac for the two-day tournament that will take place May 12-13.
“We’re excited to get to play this at home in front of our crowd, get to sleep in our own beds and use this to our own advantage,” head coach Todd Petty said. “Any time we can host a regional, it’s a really good year. I’m really proud of the girls and excited for them.”
Texas Tech has advanced past the regional round the last two season, earning a spot in the Sweet 16.
The Lady Raiders (24-4) enter the tournament with an automatic bid after winning the first Big 12 tournament title in program history. Tech is one of six Big 12 members to receive a bid to the NCAA Championships this season.
