The Assistant City Manager for the City of Plainview, Andrew Freeman, has announced he would be leaving his position, effective Friday.
Freeman accepted a job as the Economic Development Manager for the City of Amarillo. In the newly-created role, he will report to City Manager Jared Miller.
“I’m definitely going to miss the South Plains,” Freeman told EverythingLubbock.com on Wednesday.
“Great learning experience getting involved in city management,” Freeman said. Prior to joining the team in Plainview in 2014, he held city government positions in Tulia and San Marcos. He said he was the Economic and Development Coordinator in San Marcos toward the end of his time there.
Freeman, who holds his economic development and finance professional certification said he was “looking forward” to his new position in Amarillo. His first day is April 17.
Plainview City Manager Jeffrey Snyder did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the hiring process for Freeman’s replacement.
