The City of Lubbock Veterans Advisory Committee, Lubbock National Bank and the Silent Wings Museum will be hosting the 3rd Annual West Texas Salute to Veterans on Saturday, April 8, 2017, from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Silent Wings Museum, located at 6202 North I-27. The purpose of this event is to show appreciation to our military service members, veterans, and their families and thank them for what they have done to protect our many freedoms and way of life.
As part of the activities, the Veterans Advisory Committee will be hosting a Veterans Resource Fair from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. that day. Booth space is available for businesses and organizations that help veterans, current military, and their families with housing, health care, jobs, education, support, and more. There is no cost for non-profit organizations, and the cost for businesses start at $50/booth. The Veterans Advisory Committee was established by the Lubbock City Council in 2014. Their mission is to assess current veteran programs and services, identify existing gaps and specific unfulfilled needs, particularly during times of transition, and to prioritize and make recommendations to City Council on various aspects of the Lubbock veteran population to improve the quality of life for all Lubbock citizens.
