The Seminole Police Department reports a suspect has been arrested in connection with two shootings late Saturday evening that injured four people. Two of the victims are in stable condition, two remain in critical condition.
UPDATED STORY: One Dead After Four Shot in Seminole, Gaines County
The first shooting was reported in the 100 block of South Main around 11:40 p.m. at Perika’s Terrace.
Seminole Police Chief Bernie Kraft said this was the first event this violent he’s experienced during his four years in Seminole.
Officers arrived on the scene to find two gunshot victims in the parking lot. The victims were identified as a Hispanic male and white male.
Several witnesses reportedly observed the shooting and identified the allege shooter as 31-year-old Jacob R. Groening.
A short time later, a second shooting was reported in the area of 379 North U.S. Highway 385.
The gunshot victims at this location were identified as two white females.
Law enforcement said upon investigation, it appeared both shootings were connected.
The two victims at Perkia’s Terrace were taken to Seminole Memorial Hospital and later to University Medical Center in Lubbock. Both victims were listed in critical condition.
The two victims at scene of the second shooting were also taken to Seminole Memorial Hospital and then to University Medical Center in Lubbock. One of victims was listed in critical condition, the second was reported as stable.
Both the Seminole Police Department and the Gaines County Sheriff’s Office began a search for the alleged shooter.
Authorities reported Sunday morning the suspect had been captured and arrested. So far, Seminole Police say Groening is charged with one count of aggravated asault.
