An Iowa Park man is pleading with the public to help find the person who he believes abused a cat almost to death.

James Lehman found an orange Tabby cat with a bloodied backside while at work.

Doctors later told him and his girlfriend that the 5-month-old cat had been swung around by its tail and slammed to the ground.

It had its tail and three of it’s back vertebrae ripped off, but Lehman says it’s doing better now.

“We took him to the vet. He’s had surgery yesterday and is doing good. The doctors said he’s strong and he’s not giving up. He’s fighting.”

Lehman and his girlfriend have been footing the medical bill after he says Animal Control and the Wichita Humane Society refused to pay for its recovery and would put it down if they receive it.

He says he does not want recognition and just wants to find the person who did this.

Lehman says he is not a cat person but just wants people to be aware of this incident.

“Those animals didn’t deserve that…. This person is being cruel to these animals to the extent that it just turns your stomach.”

Lehman and his girlfriend have set up a go fund me account, which has already raised over $1,000 in just 3 days, to help cover the costs.
