Gentry McDaniel recently got to meet several of her favorite princesses. She wished to go to Disney World, and with the help of Make-A-Wish it was a magical trip she’ll never forget. “I got to see the real Cinderella Fairy Godmother,” said McDaniel.
She spent an entire week dancing with Cinderella and eating breakfast with Princess Sophia.
“I got to wave a wand. The princess was here and Cinderella was there. She taught me about magical things. It was amazing, it was really good,” said McDaniel.
They say Disney World is the happiest place on earth, and McDaniel and her mom, Crystal Tobias, couldn’t agree more.
“Really, honestly, the most amazing part of it was being brought to tears just by the wonder of it. The place was absolutely magical, the castle, everything. Nothing is ever going to compare to that,” said Tobias.
Another highlight, getting to be a part of the shows.
Tobias said, “She was actually pulled up [on stage.] The kids were pulled up to be part of the Lion King festival. That show was amazing. It actually brought tears to my eyes.”
Make-A-Wish pulls out all the stops when sending kids on their trips.
“Those people were absolutely stellar. They were so accommodating, so kind and considerate of what we had going on,” said Tobias.
For Gentry, the rides took her on the thrill of a lifetime.
“It was awesome, but I did not like the roller coasters. They were so scary. I went upside down
on the tower of terror,” said McDaniel.
“By the way, the Mako ride they are not joking, that thing is insane,” said Tobias.
Most of all, getting a break from doctors visits and treatments meant more to them than anything.
“I’m still trying not to tear up. I don’t know what we would do. I’ll never forget it, the kids will never forget it. We are so eternally grateful,” said Tobias.
