Due to an ongoing wildland fire that started January 21st on the East Rim of the Chisos Mountains, the following closures are in effect: all hiking along the East Rim Trail from Boot Canyon to the South Rim junction, all campsites along the East Rim including NE 1-5 and SE 1-4.

The fire is reported to be under 4 acres, firefighters are on scene, and investigations continue regarding the cause of the fire.

In addition, some bear closures remain in effect. The South Rim Trail remains open, as well as Laguna Meadows and Pinnacles Trail along with associated backpacking campsites. Please see attached map for details or ask at a visitor center.

For your safety, and for the safety and effectiveness of our firefighters, we ask that all hikers and campers abide by these closures. Thank you for your cooperation and support!
