According to various reports, Texas Tech running backs coach DeShaun Foster has left the program to take the same position at his alma mater, UCLA.
Foster coached one season (2016) for the Red Raiders.
Texas Tech has not confirmed the departure at this time, however their are multiple reports confirming his addition to the Bruins’ staff. Foster’s Twitter handle also shows himself titled as UCLA’s running backs coach.
During Fosters time on the South Plains he led a running back group that racked up 989 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns. Texas Tech was last in the conference in rushing, with only 1,218 rush yards.
Foster arrived at Texas Tech after spending three seasons in various roles at his alma mater, UCLA. He began his coaching career as a volunteer assistant on Jim Mora’s staff in 2013 before being promoted to a graduate assistant in 2014 and then Director of Player Development and High School Relations in 2015.
The Bruins were among the top programs in the country during Foster’s tenure assisting with the running backs as UCLA went 28-11 overall with three bowl appearances during that span.
Foster joined the coaching profession shortly after a successful seven-year career in the NFL with both the Carolina Panthers and San Francisco 49ers. He recorded over 4,500 yards of total offense during his career after rushing for 3,570 yards while picking up another 1,129 yards through the air.
