As thousands traveled to Washington D.C. to witness Donald Trump’s swearing in as the United States’ 45th president, hundreds in Lubbock turned to TV screens to watch it all happen, some of them stopping by the Hillcrest Country Club to do so.
On Friday morning Robert Pratt of “Pratt on Texas” hosted a watch party at the country club with hopes of being able to meet with some of his local listeners, but not expecting as large of a crowd as it turned out to be. Local republicans filled the country club with loud cheers (and some red caps) as they gathered to watch the inauguration.
“People are excited for change and I think that’s it,” said Pratt. “The inauguration is an extraordinary important institution, of the peaceful transfer of power.”
“It’s always nice to gather with a group of supporters who are on the same page as you, but you can feel the love and the warmth and excitement in this room,” said Blake Moore, who attended the watch party. “It’s been a lon eight years and I think everyone’s excited to see the changes that we got coming.”
To listen to “Pratt on Texas,” you can tune in on weekdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on KFYO 95.1 FM and 790 AM.
