On October 21, 2016, an investigator with the Department of Family and Protective Services contacted the Lubbock Police Department to file a missing person case on behalf of three siblings. The investigator informed officers their department obtained a court order to remove the children, ages 8, 5 and 2 from the parent’s custody, however the investigator was unable to locate the children.
For the last several months, detectives with LPD’s Juvenile Unit have been working with Child Protective Services to locate the children. Investigators had reason to believe the children were in the New Mexico area with family members.
At approximately 2:45 a.m. this morning, we received a call that two of the children had been dropped off in the 8900 block of University. Police were advised that a family member of the children dropped them off to be with their mother who was staying in the area.
The mother, Amanda Martinez, was arrested on a felony warrant of Interference of Child Custody. CPS took custody of the two children.
After questioning the mother, police believe the 8-year-old female child is still in the New Mexico area.
