The ridge of high pressure will not move for several days. So, that means more wind from the south and even warmer air, with much higher temperatures. Wednesday is no different. We can expect to see mostly sunny skies, with wind at 5-10 mph. But, even with the passing clouds, we’ll still get highs into the low 90s across west Texas. Lubbock will reach a high of 92°.

The real heart of the warm air this week is going to be on Thursday. Any clouds that made it into the region Wednesday will not be present on Thursday. The wind will stay light, which will make it feel worse. So, I’ll get on with the bad news. Under the sun and high pressure, Lubbock will be seeing a high temperature of 97°, with highs at 100°-102° in the Rolling Plains. technically it is still summer until September 22 at 3:02 pm, so this really isn’t out of the ordinary.
