Lubbock Christian University is celebrating fall by inviting the community out for a trunk-or-treat event. The university likes to meet families, and support a great cause at the same time.
Not only did kids, parents, and students get to dress up and have a little fun, those in attendance had a chance to learn a little something about the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
“This is our third annual Make-A-Wish trunk-or-treat. There are 20 trunks and as you can tell they’re having a ball, the interaction with the community is perfect,” said organizer and golf coach Gary Belt.
Princesses, super heroes, and ninjas among the hundreds of kids who met some real life super heroes at Lubbock Christian University.
“We’re having a sleep over, the basketball team with a bunch of burley goofy guys in onesies and being goofy and acting like kids.” said player Tyler Rogers.
It’s all for a good cause, supporting the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Anytime you can make someone’s wish come true that’s pretty awesome,” said Rogers.
Coach Belt says, events like this help parents and kids get a little taste of what LCU is all about and one of the most important things to the university is volunteering.
“And if Make-A-Wish is something they can do to help serve they’re all for it,” said Belt.
For wish kid Angele, all their hard work not only paid off but left a lasting impression.
Last year, the students surprised him with his trip to Legoland.
“He drove a remote controlled car, and at the end all the student athletes gathered around and revealed his wish. I was like oh my this is too good.” said Belt.
“I got to ride water rides and I got to ride a rollercoaster,” said Angele.
