Amanda Martinez, 27, of Lubbock was arrested Tuesday for contempt of court.  Court records identified her as the mother of three missing children.

On Thursday, Lubbock Police asked the public for help in finding Mariah Martinez, age 8; Jeremiah Martinez, age 5; and Leimiah Martinez McGavok, age 2.  The children were described as missing and “at risk.”

Children’s Protective Services filed court papers to remove the children from Martinez.  But when CPS came to take the children, they were gone.  Police believe Martinez knows where to find her children but she simply refuses to provide the information.

A court order on Tuesday said, “Respondent refused to answer the questions of the Assistant District Attorney, refused to finish testifying, and refused to disclose the location of the children, subject of this suit.”

“Amanda Martinez is in CONTEMPT of this Court and is assessed punishment by confinement in the jail of this County for a term of 8 days commencing on November 1,” court records said, “or until the children, the subject of this suit are returned to the care of the Department of Family and Protective Services, whichever occurs first.”

Meanwhile, the children remain missing.  Anyone with information the location of the children was asked by LPD to call Crime Line at 806-741-1000.
