The defense wasn’t the only thing Texas Tech found in Fort Worth this weekend.

Texas Tech finding a running game as fast as the first day of November hit us this Tuesday.

Over the last two games, Texas Tech’s true freshman running back Da’Leon Ward has 129 yards and one touchdown on only 30 carries.

He’s averaging 4.3 yards per carry, and he’s picked up the tough yards in short yardage situations consistently.

“Da’Leon has done a great job. He came in, thought he was going to redshirt. He got some time on special team, worked his way up to eventually be the starting running back for this Texas Tech team,” Texas Tech sophomore wide receiver Cameron Batson said. “He’s done a great job, handled the load well. He definitely is shifty, break it outside, so I feel like he’s done a great job.”

“When you look at the stat sheet there were no loss of yardage plays. He’s always getting positive yardage and that’s key with our offense. If we’re playing downhill and don’t move backwards we’re tough to stop, and he’s done a nice job of that,” Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury said.
