Brownfield Police are investigating a shooting that left two people dead, believed to be a murder/suicide.
Police responded to a neighbor’s report of shots fired at a home on the 400 block of East Lake, according to Police Chief Tony Serbantez. He said the call came in around 2:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
“Officers heard a commotion in the backyard,” Serbantez said.
As the officers arrived on scene, the suspect shot himself “with a handgun,” Serbantez stated.
The suspect was identified by Brownfield Police as Uriel Garza, 68, and the victim, Veronica Garza, 41.
Police said several kids were in the home, and were brought to the police station.
The investigation was still active, and officers were on scene as of 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
