If it wasn’t official before, it is now; on Monday, BusinessInsider.com and other national media outlets quoted sources as saying Lubbock was included in the list of Kmart store closures.

At that time a local store manager indicated no such information had been provided to the Kmart in Lubbock.

Then, on Thursday morning, a giant banner outside the store read, “store closing.”  Another sign said, “store closing sale.”

A smaller notice on the front of the store indicated that coupons, promotions and circulars would not be honored at the Lubbock location.

BusinessInsider.com said 64 Kmart stores would close by mid-December.
