About St. Benedict’s Chapel:
Saint Benedict’s Chapel (www.stbenedictslubbock.org) is an ecumenical organization dedicated to serving Lubbock’s homeless, working poor, and food insecure. Rooted in service to Jesus Christ, Saint Benedict’s seeks to treat each guest with love and dignity. As an extension of our commitment to serving God and neighbor, we provide free dinners Monday through Saturday. Sunday mornings we host a worship service and brunch that fosters spiritual nourishment through prayer, communion, and fellowship. Our volunteers work faithfully to provide a safe, welcoming atmosphere for the 80-130 guests served daily.
Father Barry Ferguson founded Saint Benedict’s Chapel in 2007 to offer free meals and spiritual support for Lubbock’s poor and homeless. Originally located on Main Street, Saint Benedict’s moved to 1615 Broadway in October 2009. After seven good (and busy!) years in the heart of downtown Lubbock, in late summer 2016 St. Benedict’s moved to a larger facility at 1615 28th St., where we are now serving familiar friends as well as some new faces!
St. Benedict’s is supported by: First Baptist Church of Lubbock, Springs Fellowship, Christ the King Cathedral, First Christian Church of Lubbock, Monterey Church of Christ, Second Baptist Church of Lubbock, St. Paul’s on the Plains Episcopal Church, St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, and Holy Spirit Catholic Church – as well as the Cast Iron Grill and the Price Group. St. Benedict’s is directed by a board drawn from partner organizations. Current board co-chairs are Ryon Price (pastor, Second Baptist Church), and Rob Hogan (Hogan Law Firm)
