A suspicious substance turned up at the Midland County Courthouse on Friday.

Officials at the scene said at about 2 p.m. Friday a man had thrown a bag of a white powdery substance on the floor outside of the building.

After the substance was discovered, hazmat teams isolated a few individuals who could have been affected.

Luckily, officials say the substance was tested and came back as a cooking substance and the isolation was lifted.

Dale Little with the Midland Fire Department said it took a little over three hours to identify the substance.
