Portions of North Lubbock remained under a boil water notice Wednesday.  The testing of a water sample was inconclusive according to the City of Lubbock.

The city also said there was a high level of turbidity in the water – meaning it had too much sediment.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has the following instructions on its website for a boil water notice.

“To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to use. The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.”

According to the City of Lubbock, the affected areas are:
–     Hillcrest Country Club subdivision between Kent and Purdue Streets and University and Boston Avenues
–     The businesses along the North University Avenue corridor north of Loop 289 including X-FAB, AT&T and the State Supported Living Center
–     The area north of Erskine Street and south of Loop 289 between North Avenue X and Cesar Chaves Drive

Portions of town lost water service on Saturday when a water main was accidentally damaged by a contractor.  Water service was restored but a boil water notice was put in place.

More testing will be done and city officials will provide an update on Thursday.
