The Texas Tech sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha, went to the Lubbock Police Department to give a cookie cake that said “Sending Zeta Love to LPD” on Wednesday to show their support.
Kathryn Durkin, the New Member Coordinator, said they are all about supporting people.
“Well our executive board was just talking a lot this summer about you know the things that have been going on and we just really wanted to show our support and do something small just to make their days,” Durkin said.
About fifteen Zeta members arrived to give the cookie cake to officers at the front desk.
“The Lubbock Police Department has our support, from not just Zeta but the entire Greek community we just wanted to do this on behalf of everyone just to show our support,” Durkin said.
She added that they hope this is a domino effect for the rest of the community to support law enforcement as well.
Others also took action to support local first responders. George Price Funeral Home is hosting a BBQ burger and hot dog lunch in appreciation of all Hockley County first responders.
