Floyd Price, a former city council member and retired Lubbock Police Officer, spoke out on Friday about the recent Dallas shooting.
“Well the difference then was there was a respect for law and order. If you don’t respect me fine, but respect the authority that this uniform represents and that’s all and that’s the thing that we don’t do in America,” Price said about the time he served on the force.
Price also said that the recent officer-involved shootings in Minnesota and Baton Rouge were the reasons the shooter ambushed officers in Dallas.
“When things happen like they did in Dallas, we get all teary eyed and we get all lovey-dovey for a second, then we are right back to our old routine,” Price said.
But Price added that being an officer is not easy by any means and he commended those men and women who serve.
“My hat’s off to every police officer that is on the streets of our cities in the United States of America and abroad for the courage that they show,” Price said.
