LUBBOCK, Texas — On Tuesday, the Lubbock Police Department arrested Byron Jermor Whitfield, 32, in connection to two robberies of Metro PCS stores in Lubbock.
According to an LPD press release, detectives with the Person Crimes Division found a vehicle that matched the description of the one used in the crimes around 2:30 p.m. in the 5700 block of 4th Street.
After watching the car for a few minutes, police said they saw Whitfield get in the car and begin driving away. Police stopped him and found items that were taken in one of the robberies.
According to the release, Whitfield was taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center.

At approximately 2:25 today, detectives with the Person Crimes Division spotted a vehicle matching the description provided by the victims in a parking lot in the 5700 block of 4th street. They set up surveillance on the vehicle and waited for someone to get into it. After a few minutes, the driver, Byron Jermor Whitfield, 32, returned to the vehicle and began to drive away. The detectives waited for back-up and stopped the vehicle. They located items that were taken in one of the robberies in the vehicle. The suspect was arrested and taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center where he will be booked in.
