On Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at approximately 3:39 p.m., patrol officers responded to a report of shots fired at Casa Capelli Salon, 2625 27th Street. Officers arrived and found two gunshot victims.
The suspect is the victim’s uncle. The suspect was upset with the victim over a ladle that the victim had taken from his deceased grandfather’s house. The victim, David Castro – 32, gave the ladle to the suspect and the suspect began beating the victim with it. The victim pulled a handgun from his waistband and shot the suspect in the chest. The suspect managed to wrestle the gun away from the victim and then shot the victim in the stomach.
The victim and suspect were taken to UMC by EMS with life-threatening injuries where they still remain.
Detectives were called to the scene and are continuing to investigate.
