The Lubbock Area Affiliate of Susan G. Komen® will fund six community-based grants totaling $156,372 in its current fiscal year of Apr. 1, 2016-Mar. 31, 2017. The funds will provide residents in the 16-county service area with free access to life-saving screening mammograms, access to treatment and services, and support.
Komen Lubbock Area will host a press conference on Wednesday, June 29, at 10 a.m. in the United Way board room, located in the Nelda Thompson Community Building at 1655 Main Street. Access to grantees and members of the community who have benefited from previous Komen grants will be provided.
The grants have been awarded to four organizations: Covenant Health Foundation/Joe Arrington Comprehensive Breast Center, UMC Foundation/Southwest Cancer Center, the YWCA of Lubbock, and Inside Out Foundation. Details of the grants will be announced at the press conference.
