The Heat Returns: It will be getting hotter across the South Plains and the Rolling Plains over the next few days. Highs in the middle 90s today and the upper 90s Wednesday and Thursday. I do expect some clouds around by midday and the afternoon like we had on Monday. Maybe not quite as many but enough for me to call for mostly sunny conditions this afternoon. With the core of the heat over the area Wednesday and Thursday, we should have sinking air so formation of clouds will be supressed.

Possible Rain Chance: A weak system will pass to our north late Thursday night and into Friday morning. Forecast models show rain chances across the Texas Panhandle that could impact the far northern South and Rolling Plains. I don’t have a rain percentage in the forecast for this event at this time. It’s something I’ll keep an eye on with new forecast model runs.

Cools Down, Rain Chances This Weekend: We’ll fall back into the middle 90s over the weekend across the South Plains and the Rolling Plains. Overnight lows will remain in the low 70s. There will be a few more clouds around. There is slight chance of thunderstorms Sunday and into Monday.

College World Series Forecast: Texas Tech will take on Florida this afternoon at 4:00 p.m. in Omaha. Partly sunny with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible. A few storms could be on the strong side. Temperatures should be in the upper 80s at first pitch.
