On Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at approximately 5:01 p.m., patrol officers responded to a report of a crash with injuries at South Loop 289 and Utica Ave. A 2015 Subaru Forester had been traveling westbound on the main
lanes 4400 South Loop 289 when a trailer hitch crashed through the front windshield and struck the front passenger causing life-threatening injuries.
Dorothy Martin – 81 of Porterville, California was taken to UMC by EMS and later died. The driver, William Martin – 81 was not injured.
Investigators with the Lubbock Police Department Accident Investigation Team were called to the scene and are investigating to determine where the tow hitch came from. Anyone with information about this case is urged
