The Shallowater Mustangs baseball team competed in their first state tournament in program history Wednesday night in a semifinal matchup with West in Round Rock.
The Mustangs got on the board first, using a Connor Smith groundout to score a run, making it 1-0. Pitcher Ryan Kotuluck was spot on in the first two innings, striking out three West batters and keeping the Trojans off the scoreboard. In the third, West was finally able to score, using a wild pitch and a single to score 3 runs. West would go on to win 6-1, ending the Mustangs season.
Shallowater ends the season 32-4-2.
