The City of Plainview Police Department will once again be participating in the annual Click It or Ticket Campaign. The statewide campaign will be running from May 23rd to June 5th.

The 15th Annual Click It or Ticket Campaign reminds Texans to buckle up every time they get in a vehicle.  Buckling up not only protects motorists against expensive citations, it also saves lives.

City of Plainview PD will be joining forces with Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS), and other police and sheriffs’ departments across Texas to save lives by working to increase seat belt use.  Law enforcement officers are stepping up their efforts to ticket anyone who isn’t wearing a seat belt.

“This Memorial Day, May 30th, while we honor the sacrifices of those who served our country, let’s also remember to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe.” Sergeant William Bridgewater said.  “Based on totals from TxDOT, 3,534 people lost their lives on Texas roadways in 2014.  That’s one person killed every two and a half hours.  Plainview Police will be issuing citations to both drivers and passengers, and don’t forget to use those child safety seats.  Let’s keep Plainview safe this holiday.”

As part of participating in the campaign, Plainview PD will be making a report to the state which will include statistics for traffic enforcement and arrests during the period.
