Today, Friday, May 20, 2016 at approximately 10:06 a.m., patrol officers responded to a report of vehicle crash with serious injuries in the 6200 block of I-27. A 1994 Pontiac Bonneville was traveling eastbound on Slaton Highway. A 2005 Chevy Silverado pickup was northbound on 6200 I-27.
The driver of the Pontiac ran a red light and the vehicles collided in the intersection. The driver Pontiac suffered moderate injuries while the passenger suffered life-threatening injuries. They were both transported to UMC where the passenger, Danya Minter – 42, later died. The driver of the Silverado was uninjured.
The Lubbock Police Accident Investigation Team was called to the scene and is investigating the crash.
