This morning, Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at approximately 2:50 a.m., patrol officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a residence in the 5900 block of 9th Street.

One suspect knocked on the front door and asked about a dog. As the victim started to open the front door, she observed a second suspect behind the first holding a handgun. She immediately closed the door. At this time, a second victim pulled into the driveway and saw the suspects at the front door of the residence. She saw one was armed with a handgun and immediately began to back out of the driveway. The armed suspect pointed the gun at her and she stopped the vehicle. The suspect opened the car door and the victim gave him a Vera Bradley bag. The suspect took the bag and both suspects fled the scene.

Responding officers arrived and located two suspects. One of them ran and a short foot pursuit ensued. Both were eventually taken into custody and transported to the Lubbock County Detention Facility. The victim’s bag was discarded by the suspects and later located by officers. Officers believe a third suspect was involved but not located.
