Two adults and a child went over the rail of an I-35 overpass in downtown Waco Monday morning, falling thirty feet to the pavement below.

The accidents occurred shortly before 7 a.m.

The first crash resulted in vehicles pulling to the side of the main road, but then police say a pickup struck two women, one of whom was holding an infant and knocked them off the bridge.

All three were taken to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital the two woman having broken bones and internal injuries.

The baby had only a scratch, with police believing this was due to the mother shielding the baby during the fall and trying to protect her on impact.

Only one northbound lane was open for some time and there were at least three additional crashes along I-35 due to the congestion and wet road surface.
