Two brand new severe weather storm sirens have been delivered to the City of Fort Stockton.

Standing five feet tall and weighing about 400 pounds, the new storm sirens were purchased through the emergency management system in Pecos County.

“We feel it’s important for the citizens to be warned ahead of time as soon as possible,” Fort Stockton City Manager Raul Rodriguez said.

The City of Fort Stockton currently has four storm sirens, but city officials say not all of them are in working order.

City officials said both sirens will be installed and ready to go by the end of April. They plan to place the sirens at opposite ends of town. One will be on the west end near retail businesses and the other on the southeast part of town.
