On April 15, 2016 at approximately 4:46 PM, a Texas Tech Police Officer was notified at the Student Union Police Substation about an arson that had occurred earlier during the day on the 4th floor of Gates Hall. A student reported someone had burned three signs made of construction paper that had been affixed to the exterior door to his room. During further investigation the officer also noted damage around the door knob that was consistent with arson.
The Texas Tech University Fire Marshal confirmed the classification of the offense.
No injuries occurred and the value of property damage was estimated at $25.00 – $50.00.
