Have you wore blue this month? It’s an important color for health experts at Covenant Children’s Hospital who are working to raise awareness about stopping child abuse.

Dr. Amy Thompson, CEO of Covenant Children’s is one of those officials working to raise awareness by tying hundreds of blue ribbons to the front entrance of the hospital, to signify the number of cases of abuse in Lubbock County.

“This was actually started by a grandmother a number of years ago who had a grandchild that was a victim of child abuse and she had the blue ribbon because it signified the blue bruises.  She tied a blue ribbon on the antenna of her car because she wanted people to ask her about it and it was her initial attempt at raising awareness for the signs of child abuse so we could raise awareness of the abuse in our society,” said Dr. Thompson.
