LUBBOCK, Texas – Here is your updated agricultural forecast from the KLBK First Warning Weather Center:
We’ll be watching the radar late this afternoon and evening for another chance for showers and thunderstorms across portions of South Plains and Rolling Plains. Models show a chance for storms developing along and east of the Interstate 27/U.S. Highway 87 corridor this evening.
We’ll finally get a break from thunderstorms on Tuesday. The day will be sunny with highs in the lower to middle 80s with a light breeze.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will return on Wednesday across the area. Some storms could be strong to severe. We’ll also have to watch for chances for flooding. Otherwise, we’ll get another break from the storms on Thursday. We’ll then see a slight chance of storms Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday along the dryline. Some of these storms could be severe. The storm chances would be late afternoon and into the evening hours.
Highs will be in the 70s on Wednesday and into the upper 70s and lower 80s on Thursday. We’ll climb back into the middle 80s Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Overnight lows will be in the middle to upper 50s Wednesday and Thursday morning. Then our lows climb back into the 60s Friday and over the weekend.
Drought Update:
We remain drought-free at the current time across all the South Plains and the Rolling Plains. Some drought issues continue to our west in parts of southeastern and north-central New Mexico.
