Job statistics released Friday by the Texas Workforce Commission show Lubbock’s unemployment held steady at 3.3 percent during the month of February.
An estimated 150,700 residents in Lubbock metropolitan statistical area were employed last month. This was a slight increase from the estimated 149,000 in January. These figures are not seasonally adjusted.
The unemployment rate just one year ago was 3.4 percent for the Lubbock metropolitan statistical area.
The Texas Workforce Commission says the Amarillo area had the lowest unemployment rate in the state at 2.9 percent last month. The Austin-Round Rock area was ranked second at 3.2 percent. Lubbock and College Station-Bryan tied for third in the report.
The unemployment rate in Texas fell to 4.4 percent in February, down from 4.5 percent in January.
