The Smith House Bed and Breakfast opened in 1912 and is still up and running in the heart of Crosbyton.
It started out as a boarding house before being turned into a bed and breakfast. The house now has 13 bedrooms and 13 bathrooms.
“They’re quaint, everyone different, if there’s rooms available, they’ll go through ‘I’ll stay in this one this time’ and I’ve got a family that comes every year and it’s three sisters, and they plan to stay in different rooms everytime they come,” owner Jim Hurt said.
Hurt’s now owned the business for eight years.
“I’ve enjoyed this. It’s been a treat. Its hard work, it’s long hours, you stay really really busy everyday, but I don’t I would ever trade this for anything,” Hurt said.
Hurt runs the bed and breakfast and also lives on the property.
“I don’t view this as my residence, I live here, but I’m kind of the caretaker of this property to preserve the integrity of this,” Hurt said.
The Smith House Bed and Breakfast is located at 306 W Aspen Street in Crosbyton.
