For 29 years, 4th on Broadway at Mackenzie Park has been an event that Lubbock and the entire region look forward to year after year. This year will be much more of the family fun everyone has come to know. With three days of events, there is something for everybody to enjoy.
This year’s theme is “Celebrate Heroes.” See the complete schedule of events.
The most noticeable attraction in Mackenzie Park this year will be the new Lubbock National Bank Ferris Wheel, free to the public and operational all day, including during the fireworks display.
The 4th on Broadway festivities start July 2 with the annual Amigos La Raza on the Plaza, at the Lubbock County courthouse square. Bands just announced for this exciting event include AJ Castillo, Stephanie, and DJ Sancho. Tickets will be available soon!
July 3 features the Fibermax Texas Country Street Dance, with this year’s lineup including Charley Crockett, Kody West, and Giovannie & the Hired Guns. Get tickets now for this fabulous night of Texas country music fun!

The Sonic Drive-In Parade steps off at 9 a.m. The parade will once again begin at Avenue M & Broadway, head east and turn north into Mackenzie Park on Canyon Lakes Drive. Those wanting to watch the parade can do so on Broadway downtown, in Mackenzie Park or from the comfort of their own home by watching the broadcast on KLBK-TV.
After the parade, the park will be full of events throughout the rest of the day. This year’s exciting new attraction is the 40-foot (plus) Ferris wheel, sponsored by Lubbock National Bank. It will be a great aerial view of all the activities happening in the park.
The Annual Bolton Oil Change Youth Fishing Tournament hosted by Cabela’s will start around 10:30 a.m., with a weigh-in at 4 p.m. The lake will be stocked with catfish of all sizes, and with free entry and three different age groups (13-18, 8-12, and 7 and under), there is plenty of room for all who want to participate. Prizes will be awarded in each age group for largest fish, smallest fish and most fish. To register your little fisherman or fisherwoman, visit BroadwayFestivals.com. At 5 p.m., Riversmith’s will be hosting eating contests in the following categories: Adult Catfish, Adult Cobbler, Kid’s Catfish and Kid’s Cobbler. The Covenant Children’s Kids’ Area will be open and available throughout the day featuring free activities such as yoga, water slides, a mechanical bull, an obstacle course, a spider climber, a petting zoo, pony rides and much more.
Throughout the day, two major stages will feature regional standout bands in the Sunbelt Cool Zone to keep Mackenzie Park cool and popping all day.
FirstBank & Trust’s 4th Of July Star Spangled Celebration Concert, starting at 7 p.m., will feature the finest contemporary artists in West Texas as well as the Youth Symphony Orchestras of Lubbock.
Following the concert and capping off this Independence Day, the spectacular Glasheen, Valles & Inderman Fireworks Extravaganza will begin at 10 p.m., choreographed with live music by the Youth Orchestras of Lubbock under the direction of Dr. Laurie Williams.
